Usual thermal barrier coating in Gas Turbine are made of a Bond-Coat (MCrAlY) and a ceramic layer (yttrium stabilised Zirkonia). Those layers are produced with Air Plasma Spray (APS) or Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition (EB-PVD) which leads to different microstructure and properties. The temperature limit of this system is about 1200 C. A temperature improvement in combustor would allow a reduction of cooling air, reduce NOx emission, increase combustion, and increase gas turbine performance.
