In this Research Project, a program system for calculating the steady state flow in multi-stage axial compressors, which is based on the work in the FVV Project 'Quasi - 3D calculation process' (AIF No. 7089), was further developed. The flow parameters are calculated by iterative coupled 2D calculations on several rotation-symmetrical S_1 surfaces per grid and a mean S_2_m surface, which covers all the rows of blades. To reproduce the friction effects, the frictionless S_1-S_2_m flow function algorithm was expanded by the boundary layer itegral process for the profile and sidewall boundary layers, a profile loss correlation, secondary and split flow models, an equation for radial mixing and on integrated loss model.
