The installation of future Very High and Ultra High Bypass Ratio engines requires a closer coupling with the wing. Therefore, the determination of the installation drag of powered configurations will be necessary. Experimental investigations on this topic have been performed in the EU-supported research program ENIFAIR. The experiments were carried out in the ONERA S1MA wind tunnel using the DLR ALVAST model and three different engine simulators. The results of the experiments show an unexpected drag reduction with increasing thrust and bypass ratio in particular at high subsonic speed.
