Today there are no selective coatings with very low thermal emission for the generation of process heat. We developed selective absorbers from TiNO_x/SiO_2 multilayers. Investigating the degradation we showed that the multilayer systems are stable. The systems have solar absorption of 0.94 and thermal emissivity of 0.06 at T=200 C. We also investigated selective covers based on thin silver layers and metallic micro grids. We modelled the optical properties of the silver layers. Applicability could not be shown due to the lack of sufficient solar transmission. Additionally, the micro grids do not have sufficient reflectivity in the infrared region.
