Multistage turbine bladings with cover bands are characterised by many and varied external and internal interactions. External interactions occur with the inlet structure and also with the outlet diffusor or outlet structure. Internal interactions take place between cascades, between cascades and cover band cavities and labyrinth currents. This project investigated these phenomena experimentally and also attempted a numeric description using newly developed flow models, which are to ensure more correct calculations using transient 3D codes and quasitransient 3D, Q3D, 2D and 1D codes.
