Within the scope of this research project manufacturing of transparent insulation systems of glass was gone into including the manufacture of transparent insulation panels with intermediate capillary glass layer. The attained physical properties are comparable to that of transparent insulation panels of thermoplastic materials. But only with large investments in the manufacturing process the extremely high panel prices can be reduced to a level on which a broad application in the market seems to be possible. The panels have to be produced at the same site as the glass tubes.
