In order to contribute to the development of solar power plants, investigations were carried out on concrete as a sensible heat storage module and on alkaline salts for the storage of latent heat. Concrete is demonstrated to be an appropriate storage medium. Even after 300 loading-unloading cycles no degradation of the concrete was observed. Additives are supposed for the improvement of the conductivity of the concrete. Alkaline nitrates are best suited for latent heat storage in the medium temperature region between 270"0C and 300"0C.
