Projects I and II provided a basis for future adaptive control systems for RME-fuelled engines as diesel engine control systems are not optimal because of the different fuel properties. In project I, engine parameters and states of operation were identified for diesel fuel and RME. Project I investigated whether mineral diesel fuel and RME can be distinguished reliably by measuring their dielectric properties. In all cases, sensors measuring in the frequency or time range were able to distinguish them.
