Alternative to the well-known teach-in programming of industrial robots, in the car industry graphic simulation systems are used for an off-line programming. The present study analyses the conditions for the applicability of an off-line programming in smaller enterprises, the requirements on installations and peripheral units and the economic aspects connected with the off-line programming. In the first step of the off-line programming the components of robot cells have to be generated in the simulation system in the form of 3D graphics.
