Within the reported project different strategies for the assessment of soils are compared. Terrestrial investigations (microbial respiration rates, nitrification) and ecotoxicity tests following standardized terrestrial (E. foetida) and aquatic (D. magna, Sc. subspicatus, P. phosphoreum, E. foetida) procedures according to ChemG were performed. A further aim was to find out the interpretability of the results obtained with these test systems for contaminated soils when no contaminated control is available. Therefore soils artificially contaminated with anthracene oil in the laboratory were used.
