From 29 March to 14 June 1994 the German research vessel METEOR performed its 28th cruise, a journey in the subtropical South Atlantic devided into two legs. The main objectives were hydrographical and tracer observations in the frame work of the internationally coordinated World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE). The cruise contributed to the WOCE Hydrographic Programme (WHP) and to the Deep Basin Experiment (DBE) in the Brazil Basin. Physical observations were supplemented by biological air and environmental chemical and geological components, including a contribution to the Joint Global Ocean Flux Studies (JGOFS).
