Several inverse and assimilation techniques were considered in this project. The adjoint method was used to allow data assimilation into quasigeostrophic circulation models. A collection of hydrographic data of the Southern Ocean was validated an interpolated by objective methods on a regular grid with the aim to establish a numerical and a printed hydrographic atlas.
