Paleoclimatological investigations were carried out in six different sub-projects (Plinz, Thuringia - early holocene; former Aschersleben Lake, central Germany - postglacial/holocene; Groebern, Neumark and Parsau, central Germany - eem; and isotope dendroclimatology - Kola peninsula, holocene). Proxydata were obtained on the basis of the stable isotope composition of sediment constitutents like carbonate, molluscs, organic matter or wood cellulose, supplemented by radiocarbon dating. In the high-resolution Plinz profile, environmental changes in the early holocene were established. Studies of the profile of Aschersleben Lake showed that this object is well suited for paleoecological and paleoclimatological studies of the last glacial cycle....
