The first results for river Oka and river Elbe concerning the contamination of sediments with heavy metals and the pollution of riverwater with typical organic micropollutants, nutrients and heavy metals are presented. Based on these results it is possible to observe the mainsources of pollution and to plan strategies for the reduction or general stopping of the introduction of harmful substances. Furthermore it is possible to elaborate a concept for the future redevelopment of the riversystem. In the 'Oka-Elbe'-project two mobile laboratories and two fixed laboratories in Kolomna and Nishnij Novgorod in Russia were build up.
