A Gas Detector Array (GDA) for hazardous compounds in air has been developed. The GDA is able to detect nearly all substances of the German ETW-List, comparable to the Emergency Response Planning Guidelines II. Due to the differences in properties and the large concentration range of the listed substances, the GDA consists of four different types of sensors. An ion mobility spectrometer (IMS) measures especially polar substances, for example ammonia, halogenated compounds and warfare agents. Aromatic compounds with an ionisation potential lower than 10,6 eV are detected with a photo ionisation detector.
