1: We developed and characterized new, compact absorption spectrometers for on-line gas analysis (single beam and dual beam setups) using standard near infrared diode lasers (DFB and Fabry-Perot) and used them for quantitative detection of oxygen, methane and potassium (760, 1650, 769 nm). A first optimization step resulted in a time resolution of up to 17 ms or an absorption detection limit of 2.10"-"7, respectively 8 ppm.m O_2 or 1 ppm.m of CH_4 (at p_t_o_t=1 bar). Sensitivity and stability limiting factors have been investigated and especially the dynamic tuning behaviour has been measured and modeled.
