1. Precise relative humidity (RH) measurements are difficult and therefore seldom in the free atmosphere up to now. The radiosondes of the national weather services do not fulfill the requirements of the accuracy. Fundamental problems of RH measurement exist for temperatures below -30 C (upper troposphere and stratosphere). 2. The working objective was the supply of precise RH vertical profils applying to the Lindenberg Aerosol Characterization Experiment (LACE) in the period July 13 to August 12 1998. 3.
