A systematic study of the temperature-dependent phase behaviour of rape oil/water plus nonionic tensides of the type alkylpolyglucoside/polyethylene glycolmonoalkylester resulted in the formulation of an optimized, effective microemulsion for the extraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Extraction kinetics demonstrated that by this emulsion polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are rapidly extracted with an contaminated soils. The extraction velocity strongly depends on the oil content of the washing system.
