Supporting catalysts which metal oxides as catalytically active components for the oxidative decomposition of chlorinated hydrocarbons have been produced on laboratory scale in the project. The process used was a sol-gel process on the basis of metal nitrates as this allows coatings and is suitable for a great number of oxidic compositions. The activity of the catalyst was measured with a specially designed measuring bench; analysis of the decomposition products (CDl and Cl_2) was prepared. The first test reaction to be investigated for the prepared support catalysts was oxidation of tetra-chlorethen (perchlorethylene).
