Gentechnology became recently available for Streptomycetes, especially for excreted proteins. The long-lasting experience in Streptomyces fermentation asks for efforts to use these bacteria as hosts for overproduction of excretable enzymes. Protease-poor strains should be screened. Genetic engineering tools and methods for use with S. griseus N2-3-11 and S. galbus DSM 40480 have been developed. Genes for protease A and B and of the StrK phosphatase were cloned from S. griseus N2-3-11 and expressed in S. lividans 66 and S. galbus DSM 40480. Signalpeptide sequences were used for construction of expression-cassettes in streptomycetes. Heterologous gene expression in streptomycetes will be useful in future and the project therefore will be cont...
