Crystallographic studies and compressive strength tests of sea ice in the Yenisei estuary Partial report

Ice cores were sampled in the Yenisei estuary during the ice trials of the icebreaker KAPITAN SOROKIN. Vertical and horizontal thin sections of the cores were prepared and investigated with respect to the ice texture and the grain size and documented by photographs. Salinity profiles of each core were determined. From the cores samples were prepared for uniaxial compressive strength tests performed in the ice laboratory.
