Measurement of the structure function F_2(x,Q"2) of the proton at low Q"2 with the H1 detector at HERA using the new detector components Spacal and BDC

A measurement of the structure function F_2(x,Q"2) of the proton is presented in the kinematic range of Q"2 between 0.85 and 25 GeV"2 and Bjorken-x between 1.3.10"-"5 and 5.10"-"3. The measurement is performed using data recorded with the H1 detector at the ep storage ring HERA in 1995. In the winter shutdown 1994/95 the H1 detector was upgraded with a new calorimeter 'Spacal' and a new drift chamber 'BDC'. These components are used in this analysis for the first time. One of the main topics of this thesis is the energy calibration of the Spacal calorimeter. With the help of the new detector components the precision of the measurement of F_2 is improved compared to previous results by roughly a factor of 2 in the Q"2-range between 2.5 and 6.5 GeV"2.
