Global atmospheric models are successfully used for climate simulation and may - in combination with ocean models - also be applied to compute scenarios of possible climatic change. Due to their coarse spatial resolutions, however, methods for a regionalization of their results have to be developed. The presented project aimed at contributing to this field. The Europa-Modell (EM) of the Deutscher Wetterdienst, which is in use as an operational weather prediction model, has been applied for January and July simulations in the European area, both for single cases with observed boundary conditions and for series with boundary conditions taken from a multi-annual integration for present climate conducted with the Hamburg global model ECHAM.
