Oekotoxikologische Wirkungsschwellen fuer umweltrelevante Stoffe zur Gefahrenbeurteilung bei Altlasten Bestimmung von bodenbiologischen Orientierungswerten und aquatischen Ableitungswerten. T. A: Vorhabensbeschreibung. Abschlussbericht

For several selected environmentally relevant compounds their concentrations in soil reflecting no environmental concern as based on ecotoxicological substance inherent properties had to be determined. The soil quality as achieved by ''concentrations of no environmental concern'' (NEC) should ensure the ecological function and diversity of the compartment. Based on the NEC-values further trigger of limit values considering local and use related aspects can be derived. Interpretation and aggregation of data also aims at the identification of deficiencies in information and the establishment of priority lists with respect to further testing and assessment of the compounds. Though main emphasis in laid on the compartment soil, the impact on surface water and groundwater due to soil mediated transfer and transport processes also is to be considered. Information from the aquatic compartment might be of relevance in terms of ''determination of the ecotoxicological potential'' of a compound for those cases with complete lack of terrestrial data. Concentrations of no environmental concern were determined according to established (inter)national methods (US EPA, draft EEC Directive on risk assessment) by applying a safety factor to the lowest test result. The value of the safety factor itself depends on the size of the data set as well as on the endpoints used. The following safety factors were applied: f=1000 #-># acute data for 1 or 2 species or QSAR estimates, f=100 #-># acute data for species from 3 different taxonomic groups, f=10 #-># NOEC-values for species from 3 different taxonomic groups. For approximately half of the 75 selected compounds concentrations of no environmental concern as exclusively based on terrestrial data could be derived. For the other compounds priority lists based on aquatic data had to be established. (orig.)Fuer 75 umweltrelevante Stoffe wurden die Konzentrationen im Boden bestimmt, die die verschiedenen Funktionen des Bodens und die Diversitaet im Kompartiment nicht beeinflussen sollten. Diese Konzentrationen, die auf der Basis oekotoxikologischer substanzinhaerenter Eigenschaften abgeleitet worden sind, werden als bodenbiologische Orientierungswerte bezeichnet. Basierend auf diesen Orientierungswerten koennen in einem naechsten Schritt Trigger- oder Grenzwerte unter Einbeziehung flaechenspezifischer Eigenschaften und unter Betrachtung der aktuellen oder geplanten Nutzung abgeleitet werden. Die Aggregation und Interpretation der Daten zielte weiterhin auf eine Identifizierung von Informationsluecken und die Erstellung von Prioritaetslisten in Hinblick auf eine weitere, gezielte Testung von bodenlebende Organismen. Informationen aus dem aquatischen Bereich wurden bei mangelnder Informationsdichte im terrestrischen Bereich zur Erstellung von Prioritaetslisten genutzt (Ergebnis: ''aquatische Ableitungswerte''). Die bodenbiologischen Orientierungswerte und die aquatischen Ableitungswerte wurden bestimmt gemaess einer (inter)national etablierten Methode durch die Anwendung von Extrapolationsfaktoren auf das niedrigste Effekt-Testergebnis. Dabei kamen in Abhaengigkeit von Datendichte, Zahl der getesteten Spezies und Datenqualitaet Faktoren zwischen 10 und 1000 zur Anwendung. Fuer etwa die Haelfte der 75 Stoffe konnten bodenbiologische Orientierungswerte abgeleitet werden, waehrend die anderen Stoffe auf der Basis von aquatischen Effektdaten in Prioritaetslisten zusammengefasst wurden.
