Theoretische Probleme und Grundlagen oekologischer Forschung in Stadtregionen und Industrielandschaften im Foerderschwerpunkt Stadtoekologie des BMBF Schlussbericht

The project is part of the BMBF research program 'Ecological Concepts for Urban Regions'. It accompanies and coordinates the work of the five interdisciplinary research teams funded by this research program. The five teams comprise more than thirty research groups and institutions. A major task of the project lies in the identification and structuring of common theoretical concepts and problems of the participating research teams. Theoretical coordination and evaluation aim at common problems and theoretical perspectives within and between the five research teams. Theoretical analyses, joint workshops and reports also contribute to the broader goal of establishing theoretical foundations and formulating guidelines for interdisciplinary research on urban ecology. In a pilot-workshop first results have been discussed by the research groups and the scientific advisory board. Five preparatory reports present the core results of interviews with members of the research teams regarding theoretical issues and problems. This first step to determine intersections and to support theoretical analyses has proved successful: The project help to integrate the single research groups and serves to support communication between teams as well. The project's structure also promises success concerning the broader goal of detecting and determining theories for environmental research that have proved functionable.
