The vacuum drainage technology has been chosen for the construction of a sanitary sewer at the Chemie GmbH Bitterfeld-Wolfen. For the first time this technology is successfully used for the combined draining of sanitary and industrial waste-water. Application of the vacuum drainage technology in the industrial scale was made possible by the installement of 3'' piston valves. The waste water gathered by the vacuum drainage system is delivered by a turbine pump and a pressure pipe to the pump station of a joint sewage disposal plant.
