Methods for the removal of contaminated liquid matters from waste disposal sites have been developed and tested. The controlled removal of the liquids prevents the pollution of non-contaminated earth zones. Laboratory tests revealed that household refuse contains about 25% waste oil. The spatially concentrated oily liquids have to be removed prior to lowering of the seeping water level. For the acquisition of starting parameters, the layer of the oily phase, physical and chemical characteristics of the liquids and the hydraulic conditions in the disposal site have to be determined.
