At the example of the test area 'Freinhausen' contents and methods of the procedure 'Ecological Balance of Land Consolidation Schemes' are examined with regard to the requirements of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for land consolidation proceedings. First, in a chapter dealing with theory the fundamentals of EIA and land consolidation are shown. Then, a discussion concerning methodical fundamentals of EIA procedure follows. In a further step, the complex system of relations between land consolidation measures and natural resources are described by models.
