The report refers to a large-scale lysimeter experiment with two quaternary and tertiary spoil bank substrates typical of the Lausitz, and percolates from the unsaturated soil zone of similar spoil bank substrates (mS1-Kp and xS1-Kp; lysimeter experiment). The aim of the project under report, which complements these experiments, was to model aquifers and study the impact of the aerated, extremely acidic, carbonic tertiary substrates on the intensity of reduction processes in the saturated soil zone and the associated influence on ground water quality. For this purpose an experimental column set-up was designed permitting sampling of both the watery phase and soil air under anoxic conditions in accordance with the duration of the experiment....
