Previous works have shown that some types of ether phospholipids and ether lipid-cytidinediphosphate conjugates exhibit potent antitumor activity in vitro. In this context it was the aim of the project to develop new antitumor agents based on nucleosidediphosphate-lipid congugates which show selective antitumor activity. The project describes the chemical synthesis, the chemical and biochemical characterization of the agents, the results of their antiproliferative activity in vitro and in vivo as well as the relationship between cytostatical activity, mechanism of action and the chemical structure of the new compounds.
