The research project dealt with noise reduction measures for piston driven General Aviation Aeroplanes. The theoretical and experimental investigations concentrated on both main noise sources, propeller and exhaust noise. The involved companies were Gomolzig Flugzeugbau GmbH and MT-Propeller. In detail the project contained the following tasks: AP 100 Experimental tests of a reference muffler on an engine test bed. AP 200 Improvements, design of a new muffler. AP 300 Evaluation of the new muffler by experimental tests. AP 400 Investigations of propeller noise by theoretical means. AP 500 Investigations of propeller noise by experimental means. AP 600 Computation of propeller noise. AP 700 Noise emission during flight. (orig.)SIGLEAvailable ...
