Diamond is a material with extreme hardness against temperature, pressure, nuclear radiation and chemical attacks. When these advantageous properties can be exploited by means of cheap CVD substrates, diamond becomes interesting as a material for sensors in extrem environments. Thus based on the use of common technologies, a radiation detector for the so called pencil beam therapy and a pressure sensor for plastic packages in the food industry in a high temperature environment have been developed.
