A flange-on type UHV photoemission electron microscope (PEEM) has been developed which allows the study of samples at ground potential and which can be mounted in any position on systems with a 6'' flange. The modular design allows several levels of sophistication ranging from a simple three-lens system for conventional PEEM to an energy high pass instrument with contrast aperture and stigmator suitable for chemical and magnetic imaging with synchrotron radiation-excited PEEM.
