Topics of this report are: basics of extrusion technology; state-of-the-art; investigations on the amount of mechanical energy from the screws into the polymer melt and the resulting dissipative heating of the melt and finally the heat transfer into the extruder body. Experiments are done with different screws, kneading elements and mixing elements. Influences of filling degree, viscosity, gap width, dissipation and heat treatment on drive power and heat transfer are discussed. The experiments are compared with theoretical calculations.SIGLEAvailable from TIB Hannover: F02B169 / FIZ - Fachinformationszzentrum Karlsruhe / TIB - Technische InformationsbibliothekArbeitsgemeinschaft Industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen 'Otto von Guericke' e.V....
