An integral concept was worked out and corresponding equipment installed comprising the characterization of silicon material and solar cell properties as well as a process sequence for crysstalline thin-film silicon solar cells inclusive necessary safety and environment protection measures and also comprising a suitable new interconnection technique. Critical material properties in respect of fabrication of high efficiency structures were listed in a cataloque of requirements, that was mostly fulfilled by two multicrystalline silicon materials. Applying the new manufacture processes, the efficiency of SILSO"R solar cells (n+p) increased about 1% absolute while manufacturing costs per Watt decreased about 20%. The FLASH-soldering method...
