This new edition is similar to the previous one in terms of its structure and organisation of subjects. The statstical data remain comparable over a longer period of time. Statistics are supplied on the following main areas: Production data collected by the association itself, domestic sales, export of cars broken down according to manufacturers, types and models of cars. These data are supplemented by a representative selection from the comprehensive publication programme of the Kraftfahrtbundesamt (Federal Office for Motor Traffic). It includes new registrations of cars, changes of ownership, cancellations and other data structured more or less deeply. Information about production values, turnover, number of employees, cost structure, foreign trade etc. are taken from the surveys of the Statistical Office. Commuting in traffic, to and from work was updated to the state of 1985 and is based on a microsensus. The picture is rounded of by data on the utilization of transport infrastructure, accidents, fuel consumption etc. Otherwise tables are mainly concerned with data and facts of production and turnover. The book closes with the usual brief international survey.
