Reliable prognoses of the vibration behaviour of wetted thinwalled ship structures require the solution of hydroelastic interaction problems. Currently the simplifying added mass concept by Lewis is widely used in practice. But this method is unsuitable for treatment of complex geometries of structure and mixed exterior-interior problems of tank structures with special configurations of fluid domains, respectively. The project has been addressed to the development of a coupled Finite Element-Boundary Element method considering the three-dimensional hydrodynamic mass effect.
