This work presents a method for the static analysis of thinwalled composite structures. With respect to the special material properties of brittle fiber-composite-laminates it is possible to consider discrete delamination failure. This failure mode has a major impact on the maximal load of lightweight structures and therefore plays a central role in the design and inspection process, especially in combination with stability failure. Beside a priori existing delaminations also onset, propagation and arrest of delaminations can be analysed within an algorithm which involves topology changes of the structural system.
