The foundation for process handling by CO_2 laser, lamp or electron beam was investigated in part 1. Part 2 includes investigations that compare all three processes. Beam sources were characterized and economic efficiency was considered besides a qualification of equipment technique and technological investigations. All three processes achieved usable results for hardening of steel and remelting of GGG. The electron beam treatment is the technical and economic favoured process variant for hardening of steel. The laser is favoured for remelting of GGG. The lamp will be used even than if large components have to be treated with a high speed.
