Modular constructed measuring units consisting of sensor and microcomputer components have been developed for automatic fire detection systems. The following values are detected by the measuring units and transfered to central terminals for data processing: smoke density, relative air moisture, ambient temperature, atmospheric pressure, heat fluctuation and smoke fluctuation. The modular structure enables an easy adaption to additional sensor types, e.g. different gas sensors, opening thus a broad field of potential applications.
