A multistage die casting technology for gamma TiAl base alloys was developed. the report describes the technology and presents the example of the Ti-46.8 At%Al-1.2 At-% (Mo,Si) project alloy to illustrate the structural development during die casting. The mechanical properties under tensile stress are presented as a function of the pressing ratio and discussed. Valve production fro gamma TiAl base alloys is possible with ingot metallurgical material as well as with powser metallurgical materials. The production route uses near net shape technology, in which gas-injected gamma TiAl powder is compacted into near net shape valve blanks by means of hot isostatic pressing.
