The fundamental, and system-determining importance of fluid mechanics in aerospace technology will always permit and initiate technology leaps. Therefore, long-term interdisciplinary concepts govern the technological ideas of the future in the fluid mechanics department of the German Aerospace Reserach Establishment (DLR). To achieve this in cooperation with other national and European research establishments is the declared objective of the Fluid Mechanics Department. This contribution contains the priority subjects and contributions of DLR institutes.
