The well-established hot film technique has been applied in order to obtain for the first time results on skin shear stress by direct experimental measurements. Using this principle, a shear stress multi-channel measuring system has been set up including the corresponding data processing. Hot film probes were calibrated by means of laser doppler velocimetry. Results from 2D-and 3D-LDV measurements in open channel flow were compared with numerical models.
