The UV-laser-induced fluorescence signatures in the blue, green and red spectral region of leaves of different plants were investigated and compared with some physiological criteria of plants, with the intension - as aimed to in the joint EUREKA-research project LASFLEUR (EU 380) - to point out possible relationships between fluorescence signatures and fluorescence ratios with the physiological state of plants. The idea was to investigate whether measured fluorescence ratios of plants could present the basis for a remote sensing of terrestrial vegetation via a future airborne fluorescence lidar system.
