Messung der Proton-Strukturfunktion F_2 bei niedrigen Bjoerken x und Impulsuebertraegen Q"2 mit dem H1-Detektor bei HERA

This thesis describes a measurement of the proton structure function F_x (x, Q"2) using deep inelastic positron-proton scattering events recorded with the H1 detector on the HERA storage ring at DESY. The analysis is based on a limited data sample comprising an integrated luminosity of 58 nb"-"1 collected over a period of 1994 during which the e"+p-collision vertex was shifted by approximately 60 cm in the proton direction with respect to the nominal luminosity vertex. This shift enables the measurement of smaller angles of the scattered positron with the backward calorimeter thereby expanding the detector acceptance in x and Q"2 to the following values: 0.00005#<=#x#<=#0.00251 and 2.0#<=#Q"2#<=#15.0 GeV"2. In this analysis the kinematic variables are reconstructed from the scattered positron and the structure function is determined by a regularized unfolding method, taking into account detector effects, radiative corrections and background contributions. The result of this measurement exhibits a considerable increase of the structure function F_2 with decreasing x. Within the framework of perturbative QCD the result can be fitted by a parametrization based on DGLAP-evolution equations.
