CKM parameter fits, the B_s"0- anti B_s"0 mixing ratio x_s and CP-violating phases in B decays

We review and update constraints on the parameters of the flavour mixing matrix (V_C_K_M) in the Standard Model. In performing these fits, we use inputs from the measurements of parallel #epsilon# parallel, the CP-violating parameter in K decays, x_d = (#DELTA#M)/#GAMMA#, the mixing parameter in B"0_d- anti B"0_d mixing, and the present measurements of the matrix elements parallel V_c_b parallel and parallel V_u_b parallel. We take into account the next-to-leading order QCD results in our analysis, wherever available, and incorporate results stemming from the ongoing lattice calculations of the B-meson coupling constants, which predict a value f_B_d = 200 #+-# 30 MeV, though for the sake of comparison we also show the CKM fits for smaller values of f_B_d. We use the updated CKM matrix to predict the mixing ration x, relevant for B"0_s- anti B"0_s, mixing, and the phases in the CKM unitarity triangle, sin 2#alpha#, sin 2#beta# and sin 2#gamma#, which determine the CP-violating asymmetries on B-decays. The importance of measuring the ratio x, in restricting the allowed values of the CKM parameters is emphasized.
