Rare gas-rare gas, rare gas-Neon, D_2-Neon and noble metal-rare gas ionomers, molecules with one ionized atom, were studied with synchrotron radiation at HASYLAB at DESY. For the ionomers the process of formation and the determination of the emission energies are of major interest. One of the simplest ionomer transitions has the form: AB + h#nu# #-># A"+B + e"- #-># AB"+ + h#nu#'. Concerning the process of formation we are interested in the ionization energies of the rare gases. We are able to measure this by detecting the luminescence occurring in the last step of the process or with a photoelectronspectrometer measuring the electrons ejected from the sample.
