The annual report gives an overview on scientific activities, technical developments and research work at the GSI (Darmstadt/Germany) in 1994. Experimental activities include the fields of nuclear heavy ion physics (synthesis and studies of superheavy elements, nuclei for off stability, nuclear collective models), atomic heavy ion physics (structure of highly charged ions, reactions with highly charged ions, electron-positron lines), heavy ion research on special topics (plasma physics, heavy ion induced effects in solids, biophysics with highly ionizing beams, heavy ion therapy) as well as accelator-experiments and -development.
