The ESA Astrometry Satellite HIPPARCOS has provided for nearly 120000 stars positions, proper motions, and parallaxes with a typical accuracy of better than 1 milliarcsecond. The TYCHO subproject has provided for more than one million stars astrometric parameters with a reduced accuracy and a precise two-colour photometry. The Astronomisches Rechen-Institut Heidelberg (ARI) has collaborated in the work of the European consortia INCA (Input Catalogue), FAST (Data reduction), and TDAC (TYCHO subproject). Within INCA, the ARI was responsible for preparing the astrometric data for the Input Catalogue.
