Four experiments were made to search for superdeformation in "1"4"4","1"4"5Gd. The high-spin states in these nuclei were populated with the "1"0"8","1"1"0Pd("4"0Ar,xn)"1"4"4","1"4"5Gd reaction. The "4"0Ar-beam was supplied by the heavy-ion accelerator VICKSI at the Hahn-Meitner-Institute, Berlin. The #gamma#-radiation was measured with the #gamma#-spectrometer OSIRIS, consisting of 12 anti-Compton spectrometers and an inner ball of 48 BGO scintillators, acting as sum-energy and #gamma#-multiplicity filter.
